On the Beach  In 2005, Jeff Tucker &  On the Beach celebrated their tenth consecutive year of performing over 150 shows per year. On the Beach has twice appeared on the Mitch Albom Radio Show, performing live for an ABC Radio network audience of 2.5 million listeners nationwide. An On the Beach performance includes a variety of musical dynamics - mixing elements of rock, pop, and country with references to Americana, jazz, and Latin music.    Jeff Tucker and company have independently released three full length CD's and one single of music, including "On the Beach Live", recorded Summer 2007. Performing as On the Beach since 1995, the group has experience playing an enormous variety of venues - from community concert and special event shows, to casino and island resort stages, to major music festival and ticketed theater concert appearances.   On the Beach can perform shows of all-original music, all-cover music, or a combination of both. The band’s longevity reflects their audience’s appreciation for strong songwriting, harmony, musical craftsmanship, and the ability to appeal to different generations and varied musical tastes.

 

 

 

 

 

Jeff Tucker - vocals, guitar, harmonica 

Jeff Tucker began performing music while attending high school and college in New Orleans and Southeast Louisiana, and the region provided a wealth of performance opportunities and an inspirational variety of musical influences. Over the years Tucker has played in a high school dance band, briefly fronted a Neil Young tribute band, toured as a sideman with an old school country artist, and spent two of the longest years in show-business touring as a Holiday Inn solo act.  

 

Jeff formed On the Beach in 1995 with a clear musical direction and professional purpose, considers himself extremely fortunate to be able to perform music for a living...and is proud that he's been able to do it without straying from that direction or purpose.

Kyle Turner - piano, organ, keyboards 

Kyle Turner debuted with the band at the beginning of the Summer 2007 concert season. It didn't take long before his playing became a huge part of the band's sound, and his talent is a highlight of the new live recording.  Kyle is currently studying piano at Bowling Green State University's College of Music. 

 

 

Kait Swanson - vocals 

Kait has been an audience favorite at On the Beach shows since her first tour with the band in 2001.  Kait's  natural vocal quality is a true gift  evidenced by her performance on the new live CD.

 

 

 

John Rae - drums 

John has been performing with On the Beach since 1999, and in addition to performing with a number of other acts throughout the region, he's logged well over 500 shows with the band.  

John's work can be heard on the band's "people & places" CD, and "On the Beach Live".  He is an accomplished musician and teacher, and is one of the most in-demand talents in Northwest Ohio.

 

 

 

Since 1995, On the Beach has grown into an extended family of great musicians.  

 Due to the nature of maintaining a schedule that consistently 

includes more than 150 live performances a year, 

members of the group will vary from season to season, and tour to tour. 

Recent and future shows will also include the talents of: 

m  Larry Smirin - bass, guitar, vocals  Larry Smirin has been performing music for over thirty years, and he has played live with the On the Beach for  well over ten years.  Larry played bass and song harmony on the "Global People Now" CD in 1997.

DJ Hiner - bass, vocals  DJ Hiner joined On the Beach on bass guitar and vocals prior to Summer 2007. DJ has enjoyed a long, successful career in music, serving for twenty years as the choral director at both the junior and senior high schools in Rossford, Ohio. A 1991 International Barbershop Quartet Champion, DJ has toured Australia, New Zealand, and Russia, Canada, and England  and has recorded eight albums of music.

Keith Roach - drums  Keith was a one time public school student of DJ Hiner's, and took drum lessons from Sam Miller.  Keith has played over 300 shows with On the Beach since 2002.

 

Slammin' Sammy Miller - drums  Sam has a well-deserved reputation as one of the finest musicians in Northwest Ohio.  He served as the band's principal drummer during Summer 2006. Sammy can often be found sharing a stage with many great touring jazz artists.
